Our History:
Pacific Data Forms was originally founded as a distributorship in 1974 by our company president, Bob Mullaney. Within a year, Bob took on a manufacturing partner and in 1975 they set up shop not far from our current location here in Signal Hill (which at the time had a Long Beach Zip Code -- that's why our address says "Long Beach"). The partners' original intent was to be a direct manufacturer -- sort of a miniature version of Bob's business forms alma mater, UARCO.
However, the salespeople who had been left behind at UARCO saw a golden opportunity to get their work subcontracted by someone they knew. It didn't take long for the partners to realize they could generate lots of volume by operating as a wholesale manufacturer.
Starting off with a couple of two-color Western Gear presses and a collator, they built a reputation for quality and service that enabled them to grow and prosper.
By 1988 Pacific Data Forms had grown to approximately 50 employees with seven web presses and four collators plus a small pack-to-pack operation and felt ready to take the plunge into the relatively new area of laser composition. With the formation of Pacific Laser Graphics, Pacific Data Forms was able to offer a composition service arm with a background rich in printing knowledge, plus an exceptional talent for forms analysis combined with functionally aesthetic designs.
With the rise of laser checks, PDF recognized both a need and an opportunity and in 1997 we entered the sheetfed world with an AB Dick equipped to print base copy plus MICR and gothic numbering.
In the summer of 2001 we aimed ourselves squarely at the rapidly expanding world of long run laser sheet business when we turned on our "new" Didde 22-inch, 4-color UV press which runs Roll-to-Sheet or Roll-to-Fold. At over 800 feet per minute and with an infeed roll splicer, this press is capable of turning out over 100,000 letter size sheets per hour running 2-wide, without stopping to change rolls. The ultraviolet cured inks, which have no oily solvents to cook out in the fuser section of laser printers, make this press perfect for printing laser imaged forms.
In
October of 2004, Pacific Data Forms acquired the custom division of Gateway
Business Forms in South Gate. The combination of resources improved our
capabilities and output, enhancing our position within the industry.
